Michel Lalonde, originally from Ontario, has been performing for over fifty years. Fueled by an unwavering dream — to live through his music and bring songs to life — he continues to pursue this passion with heartfelt authenticity.
He first made a lasting impression with Garolou, the legendary band that released five studio albums and one live album, toured across Canada, the U.S., and Europe, won two Félix Awards, and sold hundreds of thousands of albums with numerous radio hits.
In the 1990s, while living in Saskatchewan, Michel formed La Raquette à claquettes with a group of equally passionate musicians. The project produced three albums and earned him both a Western Canadian Music Award and an East Coast Music Award.
As a solo artist, Michel released Délit de suite in 1987 and L’Amour fou in 2011. In the fall of 2019, he returned with Comme un engin, recorded in the Évangéline region of Prince Edward Island with a group of Acadian musicians and special guests. Produced by Rémi Arsenault, mixed by François Lamoureux, and artistically directed by Pierre Lamoureux, the album is a moving tribute to friendship and love.
Today, Michel splits his time between his adopted home of Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island — his creative haven — where he continues to collaborate with his longtime bandmates, Les Loups Marins. A rich, inspiring career rooted deeply in the francophone culture of Canada.
