Aurel was born into a multicultural family and has always written songs in the three languages she learned growing up: Spanish, French, and English. Trained in piano from an early age, she blends the instrument’s textures with trilingual poetry. Her style is influenced by artists from Latin America and North America, ranging from Selena Quintanilla to Regina Spektor, including Natalia Lafourcade and Klô Pelgag.
Her artistic journey is closely tied to her search for identity as a Mexican and Franco-Ontarian artist. She strives to find her place within each of her communities while fully embracing her identity as a Mexican-Canadian.
In 2021, she released her first EP, Piano Sessions en el Naufragio, in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, inspired by the music scene of this small cosmopolitan city in southern Mexico.
She was then selected as an artist in residence at La Slague in 2022, where she began a brand-new project: Soundscape sudburois. This project aims to create new compositions inspired by the landscapes of the Northern Ontario city, rooted in its natural environment. Divided into two parts, the project came to life in 2023 with the first EP, Soundscape sudburois: Summer, followed by its counterpart, Soundscape sudburois: Winter, in 2025.
